Personality in Relation to Social Media Usage

You see the influencers or just your average friend you follow on Instagram and think, "What makes them so outgoing?" I know I do. I want to know where their confidence comes from. From my own observations, the girls, specifically, that I follow are very outgoing and kind in person.

I feel like one of the main things that goes into a person's social media influence is confidence. Social media, Instagram specifically, is brutal. It can be a complete confidence destroyer. I have found that the less you care about what people think about you, the more you post, which weirdly enough, would cause someone to post more. I think it is all about the content to help decide what a person's motives are.

I love the Meyers-Briggs test. I was so excited to analyze this idea using something I already have an interest in. According to the text from this week, the people with more introverted personalities have a bigger social media presence. This is completely different than what I thought. Extroverts were said to have used their time on social media just "to be busy" which makes sense considering they feed off of what is happening around them. I, as an extrovert, love to look at social media and see what my besties are up to.

While Instagram is a really cool avenue for sharing information with others in both a personal space and large platform, it leads to a lot of questions about whether or not people are genuine.
